A loving and fulfilling relationship is always one wherein the parties involved remain loyal to each other and ensure that they never heart one another’s feelings. However, the sad fact of the matter is that plenty of people will fall victim to being cheated on. A lot of people will give in to the temptations of the skin and the heart, and will end up betraying their significant others.
Now while cheating is inexcusable, it doesn’t mean that there’s any harm in trying to figure out why people cheat in the first place. Sometimes, it’s good to get into the mind of a cheater so that you can better identify them right away before they hurt you. Here are some basic reasons as to why people cheat on the ones they love.

1. They aren’t looking to settle down just yet.

A lot of times, when people see that their relationships are getting way too serious for their taste, they will engage in acts of infidelity to defuse the situation. A lot of people are afraid of commitment, and cheating can be a great escape route for them.

2. They are insecure about who they are.

They need constant validation, and it doesn’t even have to come from you. Whenever someone expresses a semblance of interest in them, they will seek it out by all means because of their constant need for approval.

3. They are unhappy with their life and relationship.

Some people will treat their disloyalty as a means to escape from unhappiness and discontent in life. A lot of people who are in love with their partners can still become unhappy with their life, and this sadness could lead to them making very bad decisions.

4. They’ve fallen out of love with you.

It’s as simple as that. Love isn’t always a sure thing, and just because someone loves you today doesn’t mean that you’re still going to be loved tomorrow. And once that love vanishes, there are no limits to the amount of pain a person can inflict on you.

5. They are polygamous by heart.

Perhaps it’s just engrained into the roots of their personality. Maybe it’s just part of their natural characteristic to be drawn to polygamous relationships. Even though a person loves you very much, their animal instincts for polygamy can still take over

Some people require lots of attention in order to maintain a sound mental state. That’s why whenever they are feeling neglected in a relationship, and a source of attention can be found elsewhere, you can expect them to cheat on you with great vivaciousness.

7. They are looking for different sexual thrills.

It doesn’t matter that your partner loves you and that you have a thriving sex life. Sometimes, your partner may be looking for something different in bed that you can’t provide or that you might not be comfortable with. With the need to pursue these sexual thrills, they end up engaging in acts of infidelity with third parties.

8. They enjoy the thrill of courtship.

Some people are always just naturally drawn to the thrill of the chase. They love it when they’re back in the stages of courtship. They will always revel at the thought of someone being interested in them, and that level of emotional stimulation could contribute to their poor decision-making.

9. They use it as an excuse to end the relationship.

Even if they love you very much, they might feel that your relationship has to end. They will use their acts of infidelity and their cheating as an excuse to end things with you because they are uncomfortable with breaking up with you directly.

10. They aren’t being satisfied in bed.

Maybe you’re just not doing enough in bed. Not to say that it’s okay for them to cheat on you when you’re under performing in the bedroom; but it’s a major factor that determines someone’s loyalty

Maybe you’re just being too emotionally distant and cold. Perhaps you haven’t been showing your partner the attention and intimacy that he or she deserves. It’s no secret that a person can only take so much neglect before seeking other sources of affection.

12. They saw an opportunity for excitement.

Maybe your relationship was going a little too well to the point where nothing exciting was happening anymore. Cheating is always an opportunity for excitement despite it being a bad one. The emotional gravity of the act won’t stop the thrill seekers from shaking things up in the relationship though.

13. They are addicted to sex.

Sex is great, and it can get very addicting for a lot of people. In fact, sex addiction is a legitimate disease that needs to be psychologically assessed and treated. People with sex addiction can still cheat on their partners despite their love because of their carnal addictions to sexual intimacy.
